Weekly Web Roundup: The Gmail Edition #16

The major news of the week was the shipping of Apple’s Snow Leopard. It aims to to refine, simplify, and speed up the OS. Although I’ve heard early reports of conflicts with certain applications so for now i’m holding off, at least for a few months, as much as i’m excited to get my hands on it!
The other main news this week which affected many of us was the fact Gmail (and Google Apps Mail) were down for nearly 100 minutes. Google later issued an apology stating it was due to a routine server upgrade, however they had “slightly underestimated the load” and things started to go haywire at 12:30 pm PST. It’s not often Google experiences a major outage and this got Twitter talking!
I’ve called this the Gmail edition in honor of this week’s most popular link which was a humorous look at the Gmail outage last week.
