Weekly Web Roundup: Design Pitfalls Edition #2

Another eventful week in the web world, with the announcement of Google Wave and Microsoft’s Bing. Along with the big news there were plenty of other great articles and resources being published over the last week, my favourite of which are summarised below.
I’ve named this the Design Pitfalls Edition due to the popularity of the first link below which i posted on Twitter last week.

A fantastic post from Chris Coyier which gives a rundown of the apps he interacts with on a typical day as a designer/developer. Essential reading. - 20 Time saving tips to improve a designers workflow
Some brilliant tips and strategies on how to speed up your common design tasks and make your workflow more efficient. A must bookmark. - Printing and Prepress Basics

Good list of dynamic CSS button styling tutorials and techniques, of course taking into account cross browser compatibility. - The 1kb CSS Grid (Part 1)
A CSS grid loosely based on the 960 system. It’s extremely lightweight and can be used to streamline page templates for most CMS’s. Worth a look. - The 960 Grid System toolbox and resources
If your into Grids then you need to check out this post which covers tutorials, showcase sites, wp themes and alternative frameworks all on the 960 gs. - 10 Essential steps to get to the top of your field
An older article from Freelance Switch which sets out 11 ways every freelancer can position themselves at the top of their field. - How to Effectively Create Content for your Niche Blogs
Great post from Maki where he discusses how to create effective and timely content to create a profitable and sustainable niche blog.
That’s a wrap up of the second edition. Were there any links you thought deserved a mention? If so drop a link in the comments so we can check them out.
