Show Me Your Dock Series! Part 13

Niki Brown is a web and graphic designer based in Boston, MA. Niki works for a small design firm by day and by night is a freelance blogger and graphic designer. Niki runs her popular DesignOBlog and the brilliant Creattica Daily blog. She is well known for her love of Bananas and for her interesting Question of the Week series and super screencasts.
She is a super friendly member of our lovely web community and as such as i wanted to get the lowdown on the applications she relies upon as a designer and blogger.
The Intro…
I’ve been a Mac user since 2003. Before that I was a PC user. My first mac was a 17in powerbook G4 that I leased through my school’s graphic design program. Shortly after graduating my lappy bit the dust and I ended up getting a free 15in Macbook pro through apple care!!! I’m definitely an apple user for life now – although I recently purchased an Asus eeepc netbook.
The Dock…

- Timepost – Time tracking that posts to basecamp or other project management apps. Works pretty well!
- Transmit – Hands down best FTP App ever.
- iTunes – I could not live (or design/code/develop) without music.
- Adium & iChat – For when I feel chatty
I almost never use instant messenger anymore. - Times – A great little RSS app with a visual emphasis. I Don’t use this app very much, but its very pretty.
- TweetDeck – My favorite flavor of twitter app. I’ve used alot of different apps for twitter, but for me its Tweetdeck on my laptop and iphone.
- Woopra – I quite enjoy stalking visitors to The Design O’Blog and Woopra works quite well for live web analytics.
- MAMP – 6 months ago I didn’t know this app existed – and then someone shed light on the fact that I could develop wordpress and other CMS based sites LOCALLY! MAMP has definitely rocked my world.
- Screenflick – Screenflick is a great screen-casting app that I use to record my quick tips.
- VMwareFusion – Nessicary evil, all web designers have to check their sites in windoze at some point.
- Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver – The magic adobe apps that help me make pretty illustrations and websites.
- Espresso – Another code editor thats much lighter weight than Dreamweaver.
- Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Stainless – I’ve got a thing for browsers so I have more than a few. I have to make sure my sites look ok across the interwebs.
- Audioscrobbler – This app keeps track of the songs I listen to in itunes and sends to them to last.fm.
